Meyer, Meyer, LaCroix & Hixson, Inc. is seeking Civil Engineers in our Alexandria and Ruston, Louisiana offices. These positions are for experienced Civil Engineers interested in public and private utility, transportation and development projects. The positions will include planning, developing, coordinating and directing various civil engineering works with a focus on public infrastructure projects. The successful candidates for these positions will be responsible for producing civil contract documents for site development and infrastructure improvement projects based upon client objectives.
Engineering work may include a wide range of projects involving site selection, planning and design; stream pollution control; comprehensive development planning and environmental assessments; highway, parking lot and street design; drinking water supply, treatment and distribution; sanitary sewer collection, pumping and treatment; gas distribution systems; airport planning and design; utility relocations; drainage; subdivision development; industrial park planning and design; and recreation facilities planning and design.
Related tasks may include cost estimating, project budgeting, subdivision or site planning, earthwork analysis, pump station design, pipe sizing and layout, specification editing, preparation of complete bidding and construction documents as required to obtain plan approvals and permits, presentations to clients; preparation of funding applications; communications with regulatory agencies; preparation and administration of construction contracts including addendums, submittal reviews, site visits, change orders and punch lists.
Ideal candidates will be Engineering Interns (E.I.) or licensed professional engineers (P.E.) in Louisiana with an M.S. or B.S. degree in civil engineering or a closely related field and 2-6 years of experience in civil engineering, including project management experience. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills; will have strong leadership and problem-solving skills; will have a superior work ethic and the desire to advance; will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or with team members. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
