The City of Portland is seeking Senior Engineering Associates! This recruitment will remain open for a total of 11 weeks and will close on November 26th 2018. The first review period will be September 10th-September 24th. Any applications received after that will be reviewed on a monthly basis. Senior Engineering Associates perform intermediate to complex engineering and project management work. Work involves applying advanced technical engineering knowledge to the solution of municipal engineering problems in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the City's infrastructure: water, sewage, drainage, streets, parks and traffic management systems. Senior Engineering Associates are responsible for managing several projects at once. Work is performed independently but under the direction of a professional engineer. Some positions may require a valid state driver's license.
The current vacancies exist in the Portland Bureau of Transportation, Bureau of Environmental Services, as well as the Portland Water Bureau. The Bureau of Development Services (BDS) also staff Senior Engineering Associate positions. The resulting eligible list may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification at ANY of these bureaus.

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position: Experience applying civil engineering principles and practices related to public works, industrial and/or commercial project design and construction. Knowledge of project management, construction management, and/or engineering analysis. Experience planning, designing, managing construction, performing research and/or other engineering related projects. Ability to interact effectively, to problem solve and partner with team members, both internal and external. Ability to effectively communicate technical information verbally and in writing to stakeholders & customers. Applicants must also possess: • A valid state driver's license and acceptable driving record at the time of hire. • An Engineer-In-Training Certification, i.e., passed the State Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination at time of hire.
