We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer for work in our Grand Junction, CO office.
Grand Junction enjoys 300 days of sunshine each year and is centrally located to world class mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, and more.
Under limited supervision, plans, develops, coordinates, reviews and assesses designs for engineering projects, including basic organization of design team, concepts, format of calculations, selection of equipment standards, system design, and preparation of plans and specifications.
Performs remedial investigations and feasibility studies to determine and outline projects.
Prepares drawings, cost estimates, and engineering texts.
Prepares and inspects plans.
Provides field support for ongoing construction activities
Assists in providing assessments of work scope, potential safety problems and special design considerations.
Assists in the preparations of estimates on phases of projects or proposals.
Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner
Participates in internal reviews.
Assists with several projects at one time.
Handles all changes and problems related to assigned project.
Acts as the engineering point of contact for both internal and external customers.
Trains and mentors more junior staff.
Leads tasks and projects.
Other duties as assigned by manager.
Demonstrated experience in slope stability and slope stability analysis, landslide stabilization, erosion control, landfill design, geosynthetic materials, and other geotechnical solutions related to earthwork projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
10 years relevant experience
Professional Engineering registration required with ability to obtain reciprocity in multiple states.
Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Plan and specification preparation experience.
Engineering calculation preparation.
Multi-tasking and time management.
Oral and written communication proficiency.

Technically proficient in area of expertise.
Attention to detail.
Ability to perform complex professional tasks independently using independent judgement and ingenuity.

Ability to work with broad objectives, with latitude to determine the best way to accomplish tasks
Complete understanding of engineering principles, concepts, and techniques with knowledge of environmental regulations and local utility codes. Advanced working knowledge and experience in geotechnical engineering is required. Additional working knowledge in earthwork, hydraulic, hydrology, and land development design is preferred.
Experience in a design engineering environment preparing plans and specifications to support capital construction projects for municipal, commercial, or government clients.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
