The Project Engineer will be responsible for engineering and operational projects in the southern California area with the ability to learn key parts of the materials business and drive projects to completion. This Project Engineer will report to the Area Operations Manager. What you’ll get to do: •Directs, reviews and manages capital projects. Working with the operations management team, manages scoping, budget preparation, project plans and capital applications. •Manages and directs the implementation of capital, maintenance and improvement projects for the materials business in the LA and general Southern California area. •Involve all levels of operations personnel in all phases of new projects to ensure functionality and promote buy-in. •Assist plant manager in oversight of extraction, processing, storage, and shipping of aggregates. •Works collaboratively with cross functional groups such as the Competency Center Materials (CCM), ESH, purchasing and others to ensure continuous improvement, best value engineering and implementation practices are incorporated in all projects. •Work with plant manager to develop yearly budget, improve product inventory control measures and audit production processes/best practice. •Interact with local, state, and federal agencies related to the mining industry. •Ensure compliance requirement are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing training and monitoring compliance. •Proactively manage the health & safety of employees to continuously improve the company’s health & safety performance.
The incumbent must understand and comply with Company compliance policies, including the Code of Business Conduct (including NAM supplements), the anti-corruption policy and the Antitrust Compliance Policy, and is required to participate in compliance training in such policies and provide disclosures and compliance certifications from time to time.
Who we are looking for: •Bachelor of Science degree in mining, mechanical, or civil engineering or related field preferred; or the equivalent of relevant education and work experience. •Minimum 5 years industry experience highly desired. •Experience in site development, construction, and stone/sand and gravel processing strongly preferred. •Experience with site permitting (stormwater, NPDES, air quality, etc.), mine planning and land surveying strongly preferred. •Experience in AggQC, AutoCAD and MS Office Suite strongly preferred. •Ability to communicate clear and concise instructions in a professional manner. •Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA laws and regulation, valid driver’s license.
