The City Engineer ensures efficient operation of the Engineering Bureau’s activities, oversees 81 FTEs; manages a $24 million operating budget; and develops long-range plans. The Engineering Bureau has a tremendous amount of activity, including: implementation of stormwater management fees, execution of key mobility projects, successful introduction of project management software, and execution of large stormwater treatment, bridge replacement, corridor improvement, beautification, and safety improvements projects.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and ten years of progressively responsible Public Works experience, five years of which must have been at a supervisory/managerial level directing large, complex engineering operations. Must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with the state of California, or be able to obtain such registration within one (1) year of employment.
