| An award winning architectural lighting design firm in the Chicago area seeks a mid/senior lighting designer. |
Our office specializes in commercial, hospitality, houses of worship and high-end residential projects throughout the US and beyond. Our projects consist of creativity both in design with a highly collaborative studio. Our office supports growth and a balance of work and personal time.
You will be required to have a minimum of 5 – 7 years experience in the Architectural Lighting Design industry with a strong sense of detail, highly developed organizational skills, great enthusiasm, a strong creative backbone, the ability to visualize and quickly understand complex architectural spaces, and an outgoing and friendly personality. The candidate for this position must have a strong sense of design, be self-directed, a good listener and a quick learner, who swiftly grasps the essence of the task at hand, and is eager to solve problems. Product knowledge is key for that candidate and some travel will be expected for you to advance your knowledge.
The mid-senior level candidate would initially accompany the principal to client meetings and quickly learn the design philosophy that AKLD has established. This candidate would eventually start managing projects more independently, and checking in with the principal on a regular basis. This experience will offer you the unique opportunity of seeing all stages of the project from conceptual design meetings, laying out and specifying the lighting design, construction oversight, constructing project detail mock-ups, collaborating with the entire design and construction team, and participating in the closeout of a project by aiming the lighting and programming lighting controls.
