We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Drainage Designer/EITs for our Phoenix, Arizona office. The position will assist senior design personnel in developing and completing designs and contract documents. The purpose is to function as part of a Transportation Design team with the ability to be a Drainage Designer on small to large transportation, solar, flood control, municipal and commercial projects. Primary role is to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design of street and highway drainage facilities including but not limited to storm drain systems, culverts, retention/detention basins, ditches and channels. Design tasks are typically performed using CAD software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD. Successful applicant will be able to analyze tasks, perform basic to advanced hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, prepare summary tables and assemble drainage reports and have experience in performing final design tasks including plans and quantity take offs. Experience in working in a team environment is very important. River mechanics, erosion and scour calculations, and sediment transport training/expertise a plus.
Successful applicant should be self-motivated, technically proficient, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and is team-oriented. Must be able to travel periodically within Arizona and neighboring states and be physically capable of performing field work.
Design municipal and state projects for streets/highways/freeways involving roadway, drainage, utilities, and traffic engineering.
Ability to function as a project engineer and understand all aspects of design and plan production and have the ability to take and give design direction depending on role on given project.
Preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates and project plans.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or able to obtain in 6 months of hire
Entry Level to Two (2) years of civil experience or related field
Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Experience using InRoads, StormCAD, FlowMaster, Storm and Sanitary, HEC-RAS (stdy/unstdy) & HEC-1, Flo-2D and Civil 3D is desired
Experience with DDMSW, CulvertMaster, and HEC-6 a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Solid skills in planning, scheduling, organization, problem solving and decision making
Project Wise experience is a plus
