The function of Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development is to promote and enhance the quality of life of residents, visitors, property owners, and businesses of Gwinnett County. The Department accomplishes its mission through programs and services that encourage high quality development as well as maintenance and revitalization of existing neighborhoods. The Department consists of the Administration Division, the Development Division, and the Planning Division.
The Engineer II position is responsible for multiple aspects of the review process within the Storm/Water/Sewer Plan Review Section of Planning and Development. Primary responsibilities include: review and permitting of development plans and documents for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to mandated guidelines pertaining specifically to water and sewer design; calculating fees, authorizing water meter permits and issuing utility construction permits for water and sewer installation. May also be responsible for review and permitting of development plans and associated documents pertaining to stormwater design for compliance with the Gwinnett County Unified Development Ordinance and other applicable codes and regulations; research, investigation, and evaluation of complaints and inquiries received by the public or management regarding water, sewer, and stormwater issues.
The Engineer III position is responsible for multiple aspects of the review process within the Storm/Water/Sewer Plan Review Section of Planning and Development. Primary responsibilities include: review of development plans and documents for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to mandated guidelines pertaining specifically to stormwater design; review of various associated reports (hydrology, flood, and as-built) for compliance with the Gwinnett County Unified Development Ordinance and other applicable codes or procedures; evaluation of maintenance agreements, bond information, and stormwater easement documents for compliance with Gwinnett County regulations; research, investigation, and evaluation of complaints and inquiries received by the public or management regarding stormwater issues. This position may supervise staff, assist in budget preparation, and perform other miscellaneous duties of a similar nature.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENGINEER II: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field. One (1) year of related experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENGINEER III: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field. Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
